Our LOVE Story

My A Love Story series is coming to its conclusion today with the last story being my love story!

Nathan and I met in a rather conventional way, High School. He was "friends" with my then boyfriend at the time. I will put it lightly by saying that the boyfriend at the time wasn't the most upstanding human being, but we won't go there. Nathan, from the start, didn't like how my boyfriend was treating me and he slowly started a plan to steal me away.

At first, I loathed Nathan. He constantly picked at me. It got so bad that when I saw him coming down the hall at school I would turn and go the other way. I'm not really sure when I started to see Nathan in a different light but one night we rode around on back roads together and he was so completely sweet. That was also the night I got my nickname for him, cupcake :).

Of course, my boyfriend and I broke up and Nathan and I started dating...and it's all history from there.

Today is our 6-year anniversary. He's my fiance, best friend, confidant, and my favorite person on the planet. I'm not saying that our relationship is sunshine and rainbows all the time, because it isn't...by a long shot. We've had bad times and hurdles to jump, but we always work through them because we want to make US work.

Nathan proposed on April 14, 2012...exactly two weeks ago in Chattanooga on a weekend trip. His proposal was perfect. You can read our proposal story here & here!

My gorgeous ring :).

We are planning our wedding for September or October of 2013. Plenty of time to finish our house and plan the wedding of my dreams!

Our Engagement Story - Part 2

You can read Part 1 of our Engagement Story by clicking here...

After he put my gift on the counter, I immediately asked him, "what is this for?" He said, "Happy Anniversary!" We hadn't talked gifts so I was a little taken back...when I opened it I found red velvet cupcakes (my man knows me well) that looked like this...

After I opened them, I said "awww babe they're all messed up." What I didn't see was a box in a ziploc bag in the box. I instantly look at him, knowing the aggravator he is and said, "you're really gonna play jokes?" I open it and it's my wine corks I'm collecting for my wine wreath. He goes, "who would I be if I didn't joke around with you a little bit?"

As I put the lid back on the corks I look over and I see him getting on one knee. I instantly burst into tears, which in turn makes him start crying. I honestly have no clue what he was saying because my brain was going 90 miles a minute. All I remember of his speech is, "I promise to always work and provide for you." That's it, none of the other sweet stuff. I really don't even remember if he asked "Will You Marry Me?" but I do recall at some point saying YES! so I would assume he did ask. I'll be honest here, I was ugly crying during the proposal. I couldn't help it. I'm an overly emotional person, I couldn't have just stood there with a smile while giggling. I cry. I can't help.

After all the hugs and kisses I immediately looked at him and said, "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!"

And there you have it, our engagement story. It's nothing extravagant and that's exactly how I wanted it to be. I didn't want to be out in public in front of a lot of people, that's not who I am. We're happiest when it's just the two of us. I'm also thrilled that he incorporated cupcakes into our engagement since I'm his "cupcake." He did an excellent job.

And now for my bling...

He also did an excellent job picking out my ring. I only had two requests, that is was three stone and had diamonds down the side. He hit the nail on the head!

No date has been set as of yet, but we're thinking late September early October 2013. A nice, long engagement. We have tons of stuff to do, like finish our house.

Bring on the house renovations and wedding planning!

Our Engagement Story - Part 1

In retrospect I should noticed a few things odd about this weekend. For one, Nathan planned this whole trip from start to finish, I had zero input...and two, he was more high strung than usual.

We got into Chattanooga on Friday night and when we walked into our hotel room the first words out of his mouth were, "well this room is smaller than expected," my first thought was why in the world does that matter?? I just responsed with, "it's ok babe, it's just to two of us it doesn't matter." After we headed out for dinner we went back to the room where Nathan set his alarm for 6 AM to go get the stuff he needed for work (this was his whole ploy to get me to Chatt, he said he needed to get some copper for a roof).

I swear when his alarm went off Saturday morning he shot right out of bed and got right into the shower. He woke me up and told me to start getting ready when he left and that he would bring me coffee from Starbucks when he got back. He set off and I layed in bed, watched a little of The Prince and Me and read a few chapters in my book. About 30 minutes later I decided it was time to get out of bed and start getting ready.

I was halfway ready, in my dress with my fuzzy sock on no less, when he walked in. When he walked through the door he had his overnight bag with him and I just thought he had put the copper in it since it's a heavily stolen item. Even though I assumed this I asked, "why do you have your bag babe?" and he never answered. So I asked again and he never answered. I got tired of asking and went back in the bathroom and proceeded to finish getting ready.

He walked into to the little "kitchenette" area and set down a package wrapped in wrapping paper with pictures of us on it and "Nathan & Heather" on it.

Right then and there I knew something was up...

Come back tommorow for part 2! :)

Who would I be if I didn't keep ya'll on the edge of your toes???

Easter Weekend 2012 Recap

Good golly Miss Molly what a whirlwind weekend that's left me exhausted! I slightly love/hate those weekends that fly by in a blur...it's awesome getting lots of things accomplished but it's also a little sad that you don't get that much downtime.

This Easter weekend started off with our annual family yardsale on Friday and Saturday, full of early mornings and crazy people! Some serious nutcases yardsale it up. I guess I'm just a little pissy for people saying stuff was priced high. No, I don't think $5 for a $50 pair of jeans is "high." Tightwads. This is why I don't yardsale. I can't handle clutter and frankly I'd just rather pay full price for something than deal with yahoo's.

Easter day, itself, was jammed pack full of family events and cleaning. The one thing I dread about marrying Nathan is how stressful holiday's are. You have to go here, there, and everywhere. I say we just stay home, haha!

Of course, we got fancy new duds. Hello, it's the South...and I'm all for a holiday where you get a new dress and shoes!

Here are mine and Nate's obligatory annual Easter pictures that he hates year after year. You think I'd give up trying...however, it's not that bad. We actually look like we have a little age on us. Seriously, I'm tired of looking 16.

Ain't she cute?! Slowly but surely I'm figuring out manual settings for my camera to take good, raw photo's. I love this one of her. Her outfit was perfect for the scenery!

I'm not sure what I said for her to strike this pose, but I like how it turned out!

And there you have it, my hectic Easter weekend!
