Anniversary Trip #2 - Lions & Tigers & Bears, OH MY!

Ahhhh, my first trip to the zoo!!! I was so excited to go! I love animals of all kinds, so I really have no clue why I've never went to the zoo before. Weird...

My favorite animals in the zoo were the Red Panda (was he not the most adorable thing you've ever seen?!) and the passed out Bear. It was so funny, I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Only drawback was that our allergies were killing us in the Zoo, I don't know what it was...but it was horrible. A lot of the animals were asleep too...I was upset about that.

Nathan will most definitely taking me to more Zoo's...I'm thinking Nashville for my birthday? Oh yes, that will for sure be happening.

Anniversary Trip - Just Keep Swimmin'

When Nate and I go on vacation we don't like to be rushed. So, as you can guess, our little mini-vacation we took this past weekend was really easy-going and relaxing. We snuck in a few things (like the Aquarium & Zoo), shopping, and even managed to take some fabulous naps.

On our first day we woke up ssuuppeerr early since we had a bear (ok, maybe not, but good lord did they walk loud) staying above us, so we just decided to go ahead and get up to get some breakfast. We ate some of the most delicious pancakes on the planet, from Pancake Pantry. Then we mosied our way to the Aquarium, where of course my camera had to come out and play :).

(all of the following pictures are unedited...and I'm extremely proud of myself!)

I just lloovvee my camera.

I'm so glad we decided to go the Aquarium, it was actually alot of fun. Plus I.Love.Penguins, and as you can see they were adorable!

Stay tuned for my first trip to the Zoo!

My First 5K

Saturday was a very exciting day for me. I did something that I never thought I would be able to do and most definitely wouldn't have been able to do two months ago. I ran my first 5K.

I've been preparing to run one for a little over 2 months. I think I should have given myself a little longer, but overall I think I did really well. My cousin and I actually ran together and I'm so proud of us both. I'm so glad we can do these little things together.

Before the race. It was a really good day for the 5K. It looks sunny and all in this picture but in actuality it was cold and drizzly. To me that's good running weather, much better than it being sweltering hot. Thank goodness it didn't start drizzling til I was at the finish line. That would have been bad.

And we're off! I started freaking out a little bit because I wore my NorthFace the entire time, hello it was cold! I put my iPod on in under my jacket and I forgot to press play and I thought I wasn't going to get it working it time. Yes, I get worked up over little things.

A little over halway and I still felt good...looking rough, but feeling good.

The finish line!!! I felt such a huge sense of accomplishment at this moment. I did something I never thought I would've been able to do.

Here we are in all our sweat and glory.

I finished in 41 minutes exactly and Holly completed it around 43 minutes. Overall, for this being our first 5K and since we didn't train long I'm super proud of us.

I can't speak for her...but I'm hooked now and seriously can see why people run them all the time. I can't exactly describe how you feel but it's awesome. I'm going to run another one the weekend of my birthday :).

Happy Monday!
